Go Chargers! This school’s mission reads “In the heart of a champion reigns a commitment to success driven by responsibility and self-direction. The Samuel V. Champion High School community will create a safe and intellectually stimulating environment in which each student is continuously challenged to become a champion – an ethical, life-long learner capable of excelling in a rapidly evolving global culture”. Located at 201 Charger Blvd and led by Principal Eddie Ashley, this campus is home to about 1,783 students in grades 9-12. Identified by Aceable as one of the top 25 most beautiful high school campuses in Texas, students enjoy a start of the art campus that was constructed and opened in 2008. The campus operates on an A/B Block Schedule. An A/B block schedule consists of 4 on A day and 4 classes on B day with alternating days instead of all courses in the same day. Champion offers core curriculum classes in English and Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. In addition the school offers a Career & Technical curriculum that includes Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Architecture & Construction, Arts, A/V Technology & Communications, Business Management & Administration, Career Development, Education & Training and Human Services, Finance, Health Science, Hospitality & Tourism, Incubator Boerne, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Marketing, STEM and Transportation, Distribution & Logistics. Spanish and German are also offered to students to expand their language skills. Students can also participate in Fine Arts concentrations in Art, Band, Choir, Dance & Drill Team, Orchestra, and Theatre. A program that Champion offers its students is the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). As far as athletic programs, Champion is known for its excellence in sports while competing in District 27 5A. The school earns the 5A status due to the number of students who attend the school. Sports offered at Champion are cross country, football, boys and girls basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf, swim & dive, baseball, softball, boys and girls soccer, track & field, and cheer. There are extra-curricular clubs for students to participate in as well. Under the Academic and Honor Club categories students can participate in Academic UIL, Debate Team, Mock Trial, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Math Tutors. In the Career & Technical category is Business Professional of America (BPA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Skills USA, Texas Alliance of Minorities in Engineering (TAME), Future Farmers of America (FFA), National Kitchen and Bath (NKBA), Forensic Science Club, and Robotics Club. German and Spanish Club are offered in the Language and Cultural Appreciation club category. The Service Clubs and Organizations are Autism Speaks, Boerne Outdoor Academy (BOA), Boerne Buddies, Book Club, Charger’s Against Minor’s In Possession (CAMP), Environmental Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Interact, and Student Council. The school also has a Friendship and Fun Club category which contains Anime Club, Art Club, Bass Club of Champions, Book Club, Champions for Change, Christian Dance Club, FIDM Fashion Club, Gay Straight Alliance, Interactive Media Club, Kindness Campaign Promise, Robotics, Sorts Analytics Club, Writing Club, and Chess Club.
